Suva Hydra Liner

With October upon us, I can just feel the fall inspired, vampy looks that have been lying dormant since March finally resurfacing. I have been waiting patiently to bust out the burgundy’s and sultry tones that colder weather calls for, and I’ve been on the hunt for eyeliner to complete those looks. I’ve never tried a product quite like this, so let’s get into it!

The Suva Beauty hydra-liner is something I can honestly say I have never seen before. This is a water-activated liner that produces an opaque, accurate line. I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to eyeliner, and I feel like I can never get anything to be matte enough. Maybe this is just my eyelids, but I feel like I’m never ~completely~ satisfied with a liner. I usually opt for gel formulas, or a classic felt tip, but the Suva liner may have converted me entirely.

First, some cool things about this product. Suva liners currently come in three finishes: matte, chrome and UV. The matte dries completely down and has a super opaque finish. I purchased the shade grease. I can’t speak from experience with their other finishes, but the chrome effect offers a bold color shift, and the UV finish is any raver’s dream product. The UV liners react to black light, and make basic makeup or full-blown body painting an absolute dream. All hydra liners are cruelty free and vegan friendly.

The application couldn’t be more seamless. With just one drop of water, I have more than enough to line both eyes, as long as you make sure to give it a good mix. As someone who uses gel eyeliner, I’m very familiar with the application process of using a brush instead of a pen liner. I have an angled brush I use for the lid of my eye, but I switch to a super fine tip when it comes time for the wings. Brushes are available on Suva’s website, and I went with the six ten. This brush is precise af. It gets product exactly where you want it, and nowhere you don’t. It’s a little long for my liking, so it comes with a bit of a learning curve, but once you get into a good groove your wings will look incredible.

The only real con of this product is the same reason I was drawn to it in the first place – it’s water activated. I have pretty rough seasonal allergies, and that comes with some eye watering in the spring and fall. If I know I’m having a particularly watery day, I definitely won’t reach for this product. That said, it’s incredibly easy to get off, and takes all the hassle out of removing your liner at the end of the day.

While you only need a little of this product to achieve results, I look forward to buying it again when I run out. Bottom line, it’s an excellent liner that comes in a wide variety colors and finishes. Hydra liners and the six ten brush retail for $12 on Suva’s website.
